Mark’s “Triumphal Entry” into Jerusalem depicts Jesus riding a donkey into Jerusalem surrounded by an adoring crowd. Matthew depicts something very similar in his re-telling, except he tells us that Jesus rode two donkeys, a mother and a colt. What does this puzzling detail tell us about Matthew and how he reads the Hebrew Bible?
