The Tel Arad Temple is an ancient Hebrew temple from the Kingdom of Judah, dating back to circa 950 BC.
The citadel and sanctuary were constructed at the time of King Solomon. During the reign of either King Hezekiah or King Josiah, this temple was dismantled.
During excavations, archaeologists uncovered the “holy of holies”, which contains two limestone altars. The top of these altars contained charred residue of the incense that had been ritually burned on top of them. Interestingly, these substances were frankincense and cannabis.
