A post-Easter debate from Premier Christian radio. Remember it’s always essential to hear the both sides:
“The rise of Christianity has shaped the modern world, but are its historical origins best explained in purely naturalistic terms, or the explanation the first followers gave – that Jesus had risen from the dead?
New Testament historian Bart Ehrman doesn’t believe in the miraculous claims of the New Testament, including the resurrection of Jesus.
New Testament scholar Justin Bass argues in his book ‘The Bedrock of Christianity’ for a number of facts concerning the death and resurrection of Jesus, that point to its truth. They debate scripture, history and the resurrection.”
Dr Justin Bass is professor of New Testament at Jordan Evangelical Theological Seminary. He holds a M.A. in Theology and a Ph.D from Dallas Theological Seminary.
Dr Bart D. Ehrman is a New Testament scholar focusing on the historical Jesus, and the development of early Christianity. He has written and edited 30 books, including three college textbooks. He is currently New Testament Professor at the UoNC Chapel Hill. Professor Ehrman holds a BA from Moody Bible Seminary, and a M.Div. and Ph.D. from Princeton. Dr Erhman was pastor of Princeton Baptist Church while completing his Ph.D, he is now describes himself as an Agnostic and continues to love studying the bible as an academic.
