One of the historical difficulties in the Book of Daniel is the figure known as “Darius the Mede”. Who was this individual? Did he exist? Did he go by another name?
Two Assyriologists look at various options and presents what he thinks is the most likely solution.
Dr. Josh Bowen holds a Ph.D. in Ancient Near Eastern Studies, (Assyriology major with a minor in Hebrew Bible), a M.A. in Ancient Near Eastern Studies (both from The Johns Hopkins University), and a Th.M. in Old Testament Studies (Capital Bible Seminary). A former Pastor, now an academic, Dr Bowen has extensive experience teaching Biblical Hebrew.
Megan Lewis is an Assyriology lecturer, she holds a M.Phil. in Assyriology, a B.A. in Ancient History, and an M.A. in Near Eastern Studies from Johns Hopkins University. She is currently working on her Ph.D. dissertaion at Johns Hopkins University. Megan is a practicing Christian in the Anglican tradition.
