Helpful series on Daniel that goes beyond the typical discussions around the Antiochus prophesy; looking at Hebrew and Aramaic linguistic evidence, and the historical challenges to the narrative sections.
The Book of Daniel has traditionally been considered an amazing prophecy, as it was supposedly written around the 6th century BCE, but predicted events that would come to pass centuries later.
In this video, Dr Bowen of Johns Hopkins University examines the dating of the writing of the Book of Daniel – exactly how old is ‘old’, and was it written before the events it predicts, or after they had already taken place?”
Dr. Josh Bowen holds a Ph.D. in Ancient Near Eastern Studies, (Assyriology major with a minor in Hebrew Bible), an M.A. in Ancient Near Eastern Studies (both from The Johns Hopkins University), and a Th.M. in Old Testament Studies (Capital Bible Seminary). A former Pastor, now an academic, Dr Bowen has extensive experience teaching Biblical Hebrew.
