Who was Nebuchadnezzar II? One of the most famous Babylonian kings, thanks to his appearances in the Hebrew Bible, Nebuchandezzar II is known to most as a despotic ruler who destroyed Jerusalem, exiled the Hebrew people, and then went mad.

But who was he really?

In this video, Megan Lewis looks at the different sources known to us from Mesopotamia, the Hebrew Bible, and Greek historians.

Megan Lewis is an Assyriology lecturer, she holds a M.Phil. in Assyriology, a B.A. in Ancient History, and an M.A. in Near Eastern Studies from Johns Hopkins University. She is currently working on her Ph.D. dissertaion at Johns Hopkins University. Megan is a practicing Christian in the Anglican tradition.
